Whitefish Point is just north of Paradise, Michigan, and
just east of Taquemenon Falls. We'll be diving on
well-preserved Lake Superior shipwrecks at a depth of up
to 130 feet.
Lake Superior has an abundance of
well-preserved shipwreck history.
This trip requires at
least Advanced Scuba Diver certification with prior
cold-water Great Lakes diving experience, and a redundant air source
(13cf pony bottle or greater, or doubles or H-valve).
Drysuit is recommended (rentals available). Dives will
be 130ft or shallower, non-decompression dives.
The dive package ($299) includes
five boat dives (three on Saturday and two on Sunday)
and Huron Scuba trip leadership as well as one rental
cylinder. Due to the great variety of lodging options in the
region, hotel accommodations are paid separately from
the dive package. There are cottages, cabins, basic
motels, a new Best Western, limited bunk space on the
dive boat, and even lodgings at the
restored lighthouse. There, you can stay in the US Coast
Guard Crew quarters at the
Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum.
You must arrive Friday night with cylinders
filled and ready for diving on Saturday - we will get airfills at Curly's Motel on Saturday evening.
A non-refundable $125 deposit holds your space, and the
balance must be paid 30 days prior, at which point all
monies become non-refundable. On a first-come, first-served basis, you may rent Huron Scuba's gear for the weekend,
including two tanks, BC, regulator set, weight belt & weights, and wetsuit or drysuit
system. Add-on dives may be available depending on
demand.
