The
Straits of Mackinac may have the best collection of
shipwrecks shallower than 130 feet in the Great
Lakes. Now, you can join the Huron Scuba Dive Team
as we return to this recreational shipwreck diving
destination.
Experience the thrill of swimming through the break in
the Cedarville (right), a massive ore carrier that split in two
after a collision in 1965. Enjoy the spectacular
bowsprit and intact railings of the Sandusky, lost in
1856. Marvel at the structure of the Eber Ward
and the splendor of the Stalker. The history and amazing preservation of our shipwreck history is
why diving in the Great Lakes is so fascinating.
What a great way to
expand your experience and get you "in shape" for more
Great Lakes diving! We will be diving up to 130 feet
deep in cold water; cold-water equipment with redundancy
(pony bottle, doubles, or H-valve) are required for all
divers to safely enjoy these shipwrecks. Deep Diver, or
Advanced Open Water diver certification with significant
cold-water deep experience strongly recommended.
There are plenty of
opportunities to take the
Advanced Open Water Diver
training at Huron Scuba prior to this trip.
Deep Diver,
Wreck
Diver, and
Dry Suit certification dives
may
also
be available on this trip - sign up in advance!
For 2013 everyone will be doing
five dives. This
package includes 3 dives on Saturday and 2 dives on
Sunday. All dives will be made from the St. Ignace
side of the Straits. Wrecks we are hoping to hit
(weather permitting) are the Eber Ward, and the
Cedarville from both ends. Other wrecks TBD.
Space is limited so book now if your are interested in
what Brian thinks is some of the best shipwreck diving
available in the Great Lakes today.
Pricing for 2013 is only $325. Lodging
is not included but can be priced separately; inquire
about your many options and let us help you have a
wonderful vacation. With Mackinac Island only a
ferry ride away, bring the family for a wonderful
weekend even if they aren't divers!
