| Scuba "Tune-up" Refresher |
"Tune up" your scuba skills with this one-session refresher! If you haven't dove in the past year,
it's strongly recommended you participate in a refresher before jumping into the open water on your
vacation or during one of our local dives. (Some resort dive operators require it!)
|
|
PADI Advanced Scuba Diver |
Apply your scuba skills as you explore new dive sites and activities with your PADI Instructor. Gain more confidence
& capability in the important skills of buoyancy
control, navigation, dive planning, & accident prevention!
|
| Rescue Scuba Diver |
This is your first step towards diving leadership, and necessary training to be a responsible
diver. This course prepares you to evaluate and cope with hazards, whether they impact you or
others, and is great for increasing confidence
& safety.
|
| Enriched Air Nitrox Certification |
This course will teach you how to use Nitrox to improve your dives while balancing the risks and
benefits. You'll also learn valuable methods for planning your dives based on available gas supply,
mix options, no-decompression time, and your personal air consumption.
|
| Drysuit Certification |
Dive locally while staying warm and
comfortable!
Because a drysuit works by trapping air
against your body, training and practice
are required in the special techniques
of buoyancy control and emergency
procedures. This course teaches you
those techniques in controlled
conditions under the supervision of a
qualified Instructor, and qualifies you
to use Huron Scuba's rental drysuits. |
|
|
| Search
& Recovery |
You'll learn search
and recovery dive planning,
organization, procedures, techniques and
potential problems. You'll also cover
limited visibility, search patterns and
safe object recovery using lift devices. |
|
Underwater Navigator |
You'll learn underwater navigation dive
procedures, techniques, planning, organization
and potential problems. You'll also be
introduced to natural navigation, underwater
patterns, distance estimation and further your
compass navigation skills. |
| Night Diver |
You'll learn night dive planning,
organization, procedures, techniques and
potential problems. You'll also learn how to
control your buoyancy, navigate and communicate
at night. |
| Wreck Diver |
Learn how to handle the potential hazards of diving around shipwrecks, as well as how to
understand what you're seeing underwater. This course is offered in conjunction with our
wreck diving trips, such as
Tobermory,
Alpena, and
Lake Huron charters.
|
| Ice Diver |
When the lakes freeze over, you can keep on diving! Learn how to safely dive beneath
the ice, enjoying greatly improved visibility and interacting with sluggish fish.
|
Deep Diver
|
Huron Scuba’s PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is unique, in that it
provides you with the knowledge and skills to plan and make deep dives while minimizing
risks and avoiding the need for staged decompression. For those interested in technical
training this course is a prerequisite. The topics and practical applications range from
simple review to highly technical exercises.
|
| Peak
Performance Buoyancy |
This course will help you determine your optimum weighting and fine-tune your trim and buoyancy
underwater. In a controlled pool environment, you'll practice maneuvering through tight spaces
(hula hoops!) and using breath control to make small buoyancy adjustments. You'll improve your
air consumption and most likely drop a few pounds of lead from your belt!
Two open water dives required for
certification. |
| Reef Fish Identification |
Have you ever tried to describe what you saw during a dive, only to find yourself at a loss for
words? Now, you can learn the names of the most common reef fish in the Caribbean, Florida, and
Bahamas, as well as clues to their behavior and interactions. Learn how to speak "fish" for your
next dive trip!
Certification dives available on all Huron
Scuba tropical
group trips. |
| Underwater Environment |
Get more out of your tropical dives by learning to see the "big picture" of the ecosystem you're
diving in. Gain an understanding of how the residents of the reef affect each other.
|
| Underwater Photography |
This introductory workshop will introduce you to the basics of underwater photography, including
the importance of good buoyancy control. You'll have fun trying out
digital underwater video and still
film and digital cameras in the pool, and see your results!

focusing on "right" and "wrong" ways to provide first aid.
|
| Underwater Buddy Communication |
Ever come up from a dive frustrated because you couldn't communicate with your buddy underwater?
Learn underwater signals & methods of making your dives more enjoyable through clear communication.
|
| River Diver |
