Course Objectives: Dive deeper,
dive smarter,
and see the greatest shipwrecks while
others only read about them in books. Be
safer on all future dives with a better
understanding of all technical aspects
of diving and obtain refined in-water
skills. Diving in the Great Lakes beyond
130’ is no place to “wing it.” Do it
right, do it when you are ready, and do
it with the professional teaching staff
of Huron Scuba.
After successful completion of the DSAT
Tec Deep Diver course you'll be able to
conduct gas-switch extended
no-decompression dives, decompression
dives and accelerated decompression
dives using air and enriched air to a
depth of 165 feet. You'll also
understand the hazards and risks
involved in technical diving, as well as
how to prepare for and handle reasonable
foreseeable technical diving
emergencies.
Classroom, Lab
and Confined Water:
- Course includes approximately 16
hours of presentations, dive
planning and work on equipment
assembly and configuration, both in
the classroom and at dive sites.
- 3 confined water dives over the
course of a full day.
Open Water
Dives:
- Minimum of 9 open water dives
scheduled, including the Grecian,
E.B. Allen, Barney, and John J.
Audubon. Planned Trimix dives for
Tec Trimix include New Orleans,
Monrovia, Defiance, Typo, Cornelia
Windiate and Florida. Tec Trimix is
scheduled for August ’07.
- Plan at least four days of
diving divided among the Ohio
quarries and Alpena/Rogers City
charters.
- Get a
preview of what your technical
diving log will look like (PDF).
Equipment
Requirements:
- Participants must utilize a
standardized Technical Equipment
Configuration as outlined in the
DSAT Tec Deep manual.
- This course utilizes enriched
air and oxygen. Gas (est. $150-200)
and charter boat costs are separate.
- All dives will be made utilizing
doubles with an isolation manifold
and, on later dives, decompression
cylinder(s) for required deco stops
including a 20ft. stop and shallower
on 100% oxygen.
- Participants must consult the
technical instructor prior to making
any equipment purchases to make sure
he or she gets the right equipment
the first time.

- rentals are available with
appropriate training.
